Mexico City Taqueria: Salsa and Guac Workshop with Carlos Parisi of Aunt Nee’s
Born in Mexico City and raised just around the block (Dearborn), Carlos Parisi has garnered a spicy cult following for his expertise in Detroit food and Mexican cuisine.
Maybe you’ve seen his wild shock of hair and ear-to-ear smile at Eastern Market, or heard the good word on his “Sandwich Talk” podcast…
While we can’t wait to pick his brain about the best tacos in Detroit, for now, we’ll lean on Parisi’s experience running Aunt Nee’s, a local brand of stellar tortilla chips, guac, and salsas.
In two interactive hours together, Carlos will walk you through the steps to achieving the perfect guacamole and high five-worthy salsas, all while sharing his passion for the rich culinary history of Mexico.
Chop and mash along with Carlos as he shares his secrets for selecting the perfect avocado, how to properly process and combine ingredients for balanced flavor, and the importance of letting guacamole and salsas rest for maximum taste infusion.
Snack and sip along the way… You’ll get to bring home your tasty creations for later, and best of all, you’ll have those new salsa skills forever!
(If you’re lucky, Carlos might even tell you his favorite secret Detroit taco spot…)
Workshops run from 6:30pm to 8:30pm.
So if you’re looking to make a full evening of it, we recommend dinner and drinks at FRAMEbar, our more casual side, before or after class.
